Peace | Fruits of the Spirit | Week 3
John 16:33: “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world”.
Background & Application -. John 16 is Jesus’ farewell speech to his disciples the night before His crucifixion. In this verse, Jesus tells them to “be of good cheer” and to have peace, even though they will face hardships and persecution. Through His crucifixion, Jesus has overcome the world, and death. Jesus encourages His disciples to not troubled by the things that come their way. Rather than reacting in panic and doubt, have faith and courage knowing that God is in control.

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Isaiah 55:12 - You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.
