Men’s Warrior Bible Study #3

Men’s Verse of the Week

2 Timothy 4:5 - “But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don’t be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.”

  • We cannot let sin/the world/temptations affect our decisions.

  • John 16:33- We will undoubtedly face trials as we pursue the Lord, but it does not mean God has forsaken us!

  • This is what Jesus commanded us to do (The Great Commision). There is nothing more important we could do here on Earth.

  • God has given each of us men unique gifts, and different paths. Wherever God places us, we should be on missions for Him!

Background

  • Judges 2:10-17→ The Israelites rebel against the Lord following Joshua’s death

  • Worshiping Baal→ Prostitution, self-harm, first-born sacrifices

  • Israelites are getting crushed by enemies

Gideon

  • Judges 6:1-16→ God calls Gideon (“The weakest man”) to lead the Israelites against the Midianites

  • Judges 6:17-20→ Gideon wants God to prove himself. Bold question

  • Judges 6:33→ A massive enemy Army closes in on Israel

  • Judges 6:36-40→ Gideon wants God to prove himself again

  • Judges 7:2-8→ Only the courageous & watchful warriors are selected

  • Judges 7:9-22→ God gives the Israelites victory by his own divine power

Reflect

  • Think about how God used Gideon. The weakest and most afraid

  • God used Gideon despite his reservations and fears

  • Only the watchful 300 men were selected to fight

  • What battles are you fighting on your own today?
